The northeast, also known as Isaan, has been largely converted to rice and agriculture. Some wet forest areas survive along the southern and north-western borders, with dry forest remaining in the northeast portion. This is the driest area of Thailand. Links provided to a sharable Google Map and/or Google Earth map for localities and places throughout Thailand, and maintained by North Thailand Birding.
The area is largely devoid of traditional birding sites, other than the very well known Khao Yai.
